EXCELLENT

The CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 is a solid pick for an entry-level gaming tower that delivers improved performance and style at a low price compared to similarly configured mainstream gaming desktops.

PROS
  • Six-core CPU and 6GB GPU for less money
  • Classy outer chassis design
  • Scads of configuration options
CONS
  • Inadequate 8GB of RAM as tested
  • Could use a front USB-C port

The CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 is a capable, yet affordable gaming PC that builds on the success of its predecessor from last year, the Gamer Xtreme GXiVR8060A10 that was our top pick for entry-level gaming desktop PC. Instead of the quad-core CPU and 4GB graphics card commonly found in entry-level rigs, it boasts a six-core “Tiger Lake” Intel Core i5 processor and 6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 for butter-smooth 1080p gaming.

Well, its 8GB of memory is a bit scanty, but that can be upgraded later. An aggressive case lighting tops it off, making the Gamer Xtreme VR impressive for the price. The machine easily earns another Editors’ Choice award among pre-built entry-level gaming towers.

Design and Features

One thing with pre-built machines – especially gaming desktops, is that the case design is shared across many brands. That more reason you’ll find our review unit looking exactly like its predecessor from last year, and iBUYPOWER uses the same chassis for its Element MR 208i that packs almost the same features as the Gamer GXiVR8060A11 we’re reviewing, but with a more powerful Intel Core i7-11700F processor. Just slight variations and maybe brand logos, but the styling, weight and LED and interior cabling remains similar.

CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 SIDE

For those who prefer over-the-top styling on their ideal gaming machine, the Gamer Xtreme will turn out quite satisfying. While it isn’t a Sci-Fi inspired design like you’d find on traditional gaming machines, it does get its share of RGBs on the front panel, another illuminating from the tempered glass window and another around the rear cooling fan. The façade has its upper and lower sections squared alongside a CyberpowerPC logo at the bottom to remind you this is a gaming machine.

Beyond that, however, this CyberpowerPC machine doesn’t have any other design frills up its sleeve, which we truly like. We also like the black chassis theme, though as mentioned, it’s not a unique casing as we’ve seen the same even on the SkyTech Shiva that looks equally appealing. The side glass panel opens effortlessly, you just have to unscrew a few thumbscrews, something that gives you easy access to the neat interior.

Ports

As ever with standard towers, port selection is excellent, and the Gamer GXiVR8060A11 keeps the tradition – even without USB Type-C port. In total, you have four USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, an Ethernet port and a headphone/mic combo. Also, there are DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI out ports on the RTX 2060 graphics card for connecting to external displays.

CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 ports

Being a VR Ready gaming PC, having a plethora of ports is great as you can connect the machine to your VR headset seamlessly, and still have more ports remaining to connect your other peripherals. Bundled into the package are a gaming mouse and keyboard, but you’ll have to buy a monitor separately – something the LG 27GN800-B with its QHD resolution and 1ms response time is recommendable.

Gaming Performance

This year we’ve seen GPU makers Intel and AMD go head-to-head with top tier GPUs, both topping out with the GeForce RTX 3090 and Radeon RX 6900 XT respectively, but all each of these comes at a premium price. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB) in our review unit sists at the bottom in the RTX 2000 Series, but it brings a few exciting features at a low price. Everything from its masterly of Full HD and QHD gaming to the fluency of Nvidia’s ray traced future while keeping things affordable is impressive.

Despite having the smallest complement of RT and Tensor Cores present in Nvidia’s lineup so far, the GeForce RTX 2060 manages to utilize all the Turing architecture’s tricks including DLSS and ray-tracing, something wouldn’t find in the predecessor – Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060.

In real-world play, the RTX 2060 graphics card can play Battlefield V at a consistent 64-69 fps with the game running at 1080p with Ultra quality settings and ray tracing. However, tuning up the fidelity to 2,560 x 1,440 on the same game drops the frame rate to 41fps – 44fps, still on ultra-quality settings and ray tracing. However, 4K played at the same settings is surprisingly still somewhat playable with the frame rate averaging around 26fps.

While the CyberpowerPC GXiVR8060A11 is billed as a gaming PC, its configuration makes for a capable productivity/entertainment machine. The 11th generation Intel i5-11400F processor, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD are more than enough for anyone looking for a workhorse that doubles up as a gaming hub. It runs at stock speeds, making it ideal for real-world productivity, content-creation workflows and pretty everything you’d want to run on a mainstream desktop PC.

Verdict

The CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 is compelling entry-level gaming desktop, especially for first-time purchasers. In addition to the lovable design and styling, it manages to provide much more stable 1080p gaming performance, thanks to its six-core Core i5 CPU and 6GB GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, better than cheaper desktops with quad-core CPUs and 4GB graphics cards.

Its biggest downside is its modest 8GB of memory and a dual storage drive option would be better, just like what you have in the iBUYPOWER Element MR 208i, but that’s a simple fix with a DIY upgrade. Powerful components, a clean design and beautiful lighting clinch the CYBERPOWERPC Gamer GXiVR8060A11 our Editors’ Choice award as a pre-built entry-level gaming tower.
